Hello, I’m Andrea.

I’m a qualified primary school teacher with 27 years’ experience teaching children in Key Stage 2 – predominantly across Years 5 and 6. I still currently teach in Year 6, so I work every day with the expectations of the upper KS2 curriculum and understand both the academic demands children face and the importance of preparing them for secondary school.

Throughout my career, I’ve taught children with a huge range of abilities and learning styles. Some children grasp new concepts almost immediately; others need to see them presented differently. Some are full of confidence; others know far more than they think they do. That’s one of the reasons I created The Primary Learning Room.

More than getting the answer right

Good tuition shouldn’t simply teach a child how to answer one particular question. I want children to understand why something works. We might break a difficult concept into manageable steps, revisit an area that hasn’t quite clicked, practise a new strategy or tackle increasingly challenging questions. Gradually, something important begins to happen.

becomes...
“I think I know how to do this.”
and eventually...
“I can do this.”

That growing confidence will have an impact across all areas of your child’s learning.
